Mix up to 8 sounds
Layer rain under wind under a slow drum. Each sound has its own volume.
Sleep timer with a fade
Choose 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Sounds fade out over 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
Saved mixes
Save a mix once and play it again with one tap. Favorites are kept too.
Clean loops
Loops are level matched and crossfaded, so there is no click when a sound repeats.
Works offline
Sounds you have played are saved on your device and keep working without a connection.
Gentle alarm
Wake up to a sound that fades in. The page needs to stay open for it to play.
Private
Your mixes and favorites sync to your account. No analytics and no advertising trackers.
Frequently asked questions
Is SleepyBeats free?
Yes. There is no subscription and no ads, and you don't need an account.
Do I need to download an app?
No. SleepyBeats runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. On a phone you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.
How long does the sleep timer run?
15, 30 or 60 minutes. Near the end, sounds fade out over 30 seconds, 2 minutes or 5 minutes, then stop. You can change the fade length in Settings.
Can I play more than one sound?
Yes, up to 8 at once. Each sound has its own volume, and you can mute or remove any of them. Save a mix to play it again later.
Where do the sounds come from?
Mostly field recordings. The rain, water, wind and crickets were recorded outdoors by sound recordists who shared their work on Freesound. The noise and instrument loops come from Freesound and Pixabay. Every source is credited in the app under Settings, Sound credits.
Why are all the sounds about as loud as each other?
They are loudness matched. Each loop is set to the same perceived loudness, and sudden loud moments like thunder claps are softened, so switching or layering sounds does not jump in volume.
Does it work offline?
After the first play. Each sound is saved on your device the first time it plays. After that it plays without a connection.
Can I use it as an alarm?
As a gentle one. The alarm fades a sound in at your wake-up time, but only while the SleepyBeats page is open. Do not rely on it as your only alarm.
Is my data stored anywhere?
On your device, unless you sign in. Mixes, favorites and your alarm are saved in your browser. If you sign in with Apple or Google, your mixes and favorite sounds are also saved to your account so you have them on every device. SleepyBeats does not use analytics.
